“I Want to be an Artist”   Writer: Mandar Shinde Mobile: +91 98224 01246 Email: shindemandar@yahoo.com   This story happens in the pre-Covid era. Yes, it has become necessary to specify this, as the Covid crisis has changed the way we lived our lives before. It was the same boring time in the night when Pooja, a 13-year-old girl, was neither excited to study nor tired to sleep. Additionally, she was again upset with her parents after a heated argument over her career. Yes, Pooja's parents - both of them successful and well-known Architects, were worried about Pooja's career despite her being too young to understand their concerns. She had recently developed a liking towards drawing and painting, thanks to the new art teacher, who encouraged and appreciated her genuine efforts in learning and creating something different. Pooja wanted to spend hours colouring up white sheets of paper with the shapes and colours that represented her imagination in true sense. Under the i...

Future of Photography Writer: Nagesh Dabhade Email: nagesh4747@yahoo.com In today’s world, everyone is able to capture good pictures through their smartphones. And this is all because of the advancements in technology world, where different applications and its artificial intelligence plays a vital role behind it. Technology is changing rapidly and it’s helping everyone work more efficiently. Here are my few predictions that may change the view of photography world for photographers and smartphone users. 1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)- Artificial Intelligence plays a very important role in every gadget; be it DSLRs, Mirrorless cameras or smartphones. Let’s understand first what Artificial intelligence is. Artificial intelligence is an advanced technology used in softwares / applications, which helps reduce the manual intervention of human efforts, such as face/image recognition through camera lens, auto correction in an image, voice recognition and after effects for videos and images....

Reviving the Heritage Writer: Shantanu Shinde Ishaan's Instagram handle:  instagram.com/ishankshirsagar India is a land of unique and diverse art & cultural heritage. Right from civilisations on the Indus banks, to the old houses and mansions we see on the old city streets, India’s journey is fascinating. However, with the heritage, there comes a great responsibility to preserve it and educate about the same to our fellow humans.  Recently, I spoke with Ishaan Kshirsagar about his new project called ‘Mohar’.  Ishaan Kshirsagar is an artist from Pune. He completed his formal education from Abhinav Art College, Pune in the year 2011. He has worked in field of branding and designing for 3 years. And for past 7 to 8 years, he is working as freelance painting artist and graphic designer. When old houses, mansions and similar structures are demolished for modernization, antique wood carvings, motifs, decorative metal pieces, wall pieces etc, gets destroyed and lost. These m...

A Brief on Rust Paintings || ALG-O-Rhythm

A Brief on Rust Paintings Writer: Vikram Marathe Mob no.: +91 97633 38636 Email: img.vikram@gmail.com My process of Rust painting began in 1994. I was a great follower of artist - late Prabhakar Barwe. After reading his book ‘Kora Canvas’ (Blank Canvas), I started writing him letters about my thoughts, my questions about art. Also, I asked him about his journey in the field of art. And from one of his replies, I learned that in his early career he had experimented with various materials. I also wanted to explore different mediums. While looking at the stains of rust on the workshop floor, I started to work on rust as a medium. Prabhakar Barwe encouraged me with his blessings. Somehow, I stopped working in this media but again started to work in rust from 2014. I have exhibited them in my past shows. I feel that the stains of the rust are the frozen moments of time and my imagery is based on the objects such as horoscopes, manuscripts which hold time or a period within them. I am wor...

My escapades at Art Museums abroad! || ALG-O-Rhythm Magazine

My escapades at Art Museums abroad! Writer: Maitreyee Rajput Email: maitreyee.rajput@gmail.com It’s actually a pretty funny incident that got me hooked on visiting the museums whenever I was travelling overseas. It was back in 2017, I was in London on my first ever trip to Europe. The day started out on a glorious note and I left from my Airbnb with a map of the famous London tube in my pocket. Drinking up the city’s views with my eyes as even a coffee was damned expensive there and I had recently quit my decently paying corporate job, I reached Trafalgar Square by late afternoon. And London’s famous or shall I say infamous, weather decided to show me its colours. The sky grew darker and it started drizzling in no time. I had to look for a shelter as I had left my Airbnb without paying any heed to the owner’s advice of always carrying an umbrella. And then, I saw a line of people moving towards the gate of an impressive building. As it’s said, when in doubt, follow the crowd - so, I ...

ALG-O-Rhythm… The Beginning! Writer - Sharmishtha Gupte-Shinde Mobile:   +91 99229 16639 Since a very young age, I was always attracted to art but was unable to realize this fact. The formal separations of career and hobby, curricular and extracurricular had a great impact on how I looked at art all these years. Recently, I attended a workshop on Indian art and after a long time, I started creating my own artworks. When I finished my first artwork, I felt satisfied to the core of my soul. Then I started working on a few more small and big artworks on my own. Spending long hours creating these artworks gave me immense pleasure. I started connecting with myself and it was a great achievement for me. During this process, I realized that I could reconnect with my true self by creating art. For the last few years, I was so much involved in working for my survival, which you may call a career, that I was unable to find time for myself. If I recollect my memories, I can see myself always ...
